Day of Valor, also called Araw ng Kagitingan, is a day in the Philippines that honors courage, sacrifice, and an important part of the country’s history during World War II. Recognizing it in the classroom can help children with Filipino roots feel seen, proud, and connected to their heritage. It also gives other children a chance to learn about the strength and history of another culture, helping grow belonging, respect, and cultural curiosity. It is observed on April 9.
