Start of National Indigenous History Month

Monday, Jun 1, 2026 · Cultural

National Indigenous History Month begins in June and is a time to learn about and celebrate the histories, cultures, stories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. In the classroom, it can be a meaningful way to talk about respect, community, land, and the importance of listening to Indigenous voices. It helps students understand that Indigenous history is not only something from the past, but an important part of our shared present and future.
