Thursday, Mar 19, 2026 · Cultural

Ugadi is a Hindu New Year celebration observed in parts of India such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. Families clean and decorate their homes, create colorful rangoli designs, wear traditional clothes, and prepare special foods that represent different flavors of life, like sweet, sour, and bitter. Learning about it at school helps students who celebrate Ugadi feel seen and proud of their traditions. For other students, it builds respect and cultural curiosity, and shows how different cultures welcome a new year with hope and meaning.
