Waitangi Day (New Zealand)

Friday, Feb 6, 2026 · Cultural

Waitangi Day is a national day in New Zealand that remembers an important agreement between Māori leaders and the British Crown, and it is often a time to reflect on history, identity, and relationships. Noticing it at school can support Māori and New Zealand families by acknowledging their story, and it also helps all students build cultural awareness, curiosity, and respect for Indigenous perspectives.
